Breast augmentation can provide women with the larger, fuller breasts they desire.

Real Stories: Patient Reviews

“Dr.Stevens and his staff have been absolutely remarkable from my consultation to surgery to now! I am beyond pleased with my results and the process. My only regret is that I did not do my breast augmentation sooner! If you are even considering getting surgery, Dr. Stevens is the best way to go. He is seriously the best of the best.”

– M.M.

“I had to write a review because I feel so lucky that I found Dr. Stevens to do my breast augmentation surgery. I was holding off because another surgeon told me I would have to have a lift and anchor scar and I did not want the big scar. When I came to Dr. Stevens, he just did a periareolar scar around the nipple. I am thrilled I have no scar it healed so well you can’t see it. Thank you Dr. Stevens.”

– S.D.

“Best Plastic Surgeon in Beverly Hills. His work is very precise and natural! I wouldn’t recommend anyone else but Dr. Stevens.”

Breast Implant Options

There are many breast implant types to choose from, starting with the choice between saline or silicone implants. From there, you can further customize your breast implants by volume, profile, projection, shape, and more.

Implant Material

Your breast implant material will be saline, silicone, or cohesive silicone gel (gummy bear).

Saline Breast Implants

  • Filled with saltwater solution after insertion into the breasts
  • More affordable than silicone implants
  • FDA approved for patients ages 18 and older
  • Implant volume can be adjusted during surgery

Silicone Breast Implants

  • Pre-filled with silicone gel
  • Natural look and feel
  • FDA approved for patients ages 22 and older
  • Lower rupture rate than saline implants

Natrelle INSPIRA® Smooth Cohesive Round Silicone Gel Implants

  • Pre-filled with highly cohesive silicone gel in a high gel-fill ratio (gummy bear implants)
  • Designed for fullest roundness and soft feel
  • May retain better shape in the upper pole of the breasts
  • FDA approved for patients ages 22 and older

Implant Profile

Your breast implant profile is based on the base width and forward projection of the implant.

High Profile

  • Narrow base width
  • High forward projection
  • Better for individuals with a narrow chest wall and a lot of natural breast tissue
  • May produce more of a “push-up bra” look

Moderate Profile

  • Moderate base width
  • Moderate forward projection

Low Profile

  • Widest base width
  • Lowest forward projection
  • Better for individuals with a wide chest wall, wide breast placement, or thin breast tissue
  • May produce more natural-looking results

Implant Texture

Your breast implants may be smooth or rough/irregular in texture.

Smooth

  • Smooth texture on surface of implant
  • Lower risk of rippling
  • May be best for most patients

Textured

Implant Shape

Your breast implants may be uniformly round or anatomically shaped (sometimes called “teardrop implants”).

Round

  • Uniform roundness throughout the implant
  • No cosmetic issue if the implant rotates after insertion
  • Best for most breast augmentation procedures

Anatomical

  • Fuller at the bottom and flatter at the top, like the natural breast shape
  • May create a more natural appearance
  • May correct breast shape for those in need of shaping

Implant Size

Your breast implant size will be measured in cubic centimeters (cc’s). If your breasts have noticeable asymmetry, implants of different sizes can be used to achieve breast symmetry.

Dr. Stevens uses the VECTRA® XT 3D Imaging System to help breast augmentation patients accurately choose their implant size.

Choosing Your Implant Size With the VECTRA® XT 3D Imaging System

  • Captures the breast and body in ultra-high resolution 3D
  • Shows the possibilities and potential outcomes using simulated imaging
  • Offers 3D imaging from any angle with zoom feature
  • Can superimpose the simulation over the preoperative image, compare them side by side, or fade between them
  • Helps you visualize your potential results to determine what size implants will be best for you

Steps of Our Breast Augmentation

three Lines

Before the procedure begins, you will receive anesthesia. In most cases, breast augmentation surgery involves general anesthesia.

Next, an incision will be made through which the implant will be inserted. There are three common options regarding this step:

Breast Augmentation Incisions

There are three traditional incision types used in breast augmentation. Dr. Stevens will select the appropriate incision for you based on your implant type, implant size, anatomy, and personal preferences.

  • Inframammary: The incision is made on the underside of your breast, in the breast crease. This is the most common incision location. The implant is inserted through the opening that has been created.
  • Transaxillary: An incision may be made under your arm, and a surgical tool that includes a camera will be inserted through the opening that has been created and will be used to help guide the implant into place.
  • Periareolar: An incision can be made around the edge of the areola, the darkened tissue around your nipple. The implant is then inserted through this opening.

A decision regarding which surgical approach will be employed is made well in advance of your surgery, through a consultation with Dr. Stevens. This will be based on variables including the type of implant you intend to have placed, your preferences regarding the appearance of your breasts following the implant, the types of scarring that might be expected with each approach, and whether you anticipate breastfeeding in the future.

You’ll have the great advantage of insight from an unusually skilled surgeon who you can trust to do his job to the highest standard and who can call upon many case histories to help you envision the real-world results from each approach. After your surgery, it may take a few months for your Beverly Hills breast implants to settle fully. At that time, you’ll be able to see the full benefits of your surgery.

Dr. Stevens performs most surgical procedures at the Lasky Clinic, a fully accredited ambulatory surgery center, to offer patients the safest, most comfortable surgical experience possible.

What Can I Expect During Breast Augmentation Recovery?

After your breast surgery in Beverly Hills, you should follow all instructions given to you by Dr. Stevens to ensure that your recovery goes smoothly. Take all prescribed medications as instructed to minimize discomfort and reduce the risk of infection. Wear your support garment or surgical bra as directed.

Any swelling should last only a few weeks. Rest for the first few days, limit your activities for a few weeks, and avoid strenuous exercises for four full weeks. Patients can return to work as soon as Dr. Stevens indicates that it is acceptable to do so.

When Will I See My Final Breast Augmentation Results?

The improvements in bust size, shape, and firmness will be noticeable soon after your breast augmentation surgery, but the breast implants will initially appear to rest high on the chest. The final aesthetic results will become apparent a few months after surgery when the breast implants have fully settled into position.

Breast Augmentation in Conjunction with Other Procedures

It is not uncommon for women to seek breast augmentation after pregnancy to restore the youthful appearance of this area that has been affected by weight gain and loss, as well as by breastfeeding.

In addition to restoring the shape of the breasts, you may also want to address any sagging that has developed. Depending on the nature of your pregnancy, it’s possible there are other changes that you might want to resolve, whether sagging or stretching of abdominal skin or unwanted fatty deposits on thighs, buttocks, or tummy.

Body Reshaping to Restore a Trim, Fit Figure After Baby

There are surgical remedies for all these issues, and Dr. Stevens can provide the ones that are most appropriate to your makeover wishes, whether a tummy tuck, breast lift, breast augmentation, or liposuction.

Am I a good candidate for breast augmentation?

Good candidates for our breast augmentation in Beverly Hills are physically healthy and have realistic expectations. Patients should be emotionally mature and fully understand their motivations for pursuing breast augmentation. Additionally, younger candidates should have fully developed breasts. Patients must also be willing to quit smoking to safely undergo major surgery.

Is breast augmentation painful?

You will receive anesthesia to prevent you from feeling any pain during your breast augmentation surgery. During your recovery, some discomfort and soreness may persist for up to a few weeks after surgery. Prescribed pain medications will help you manage any discomfort and make your recovery easier. After the first few weeks of recovery, any breast pain or discomfort should diminish significantly.

What are the risks of breast augmentation surgery?

Breast augmentation comes with many of the risks associated with any other surgery, including bleeding, infection, and hematoma. Risks specific to breast implant surgery include capsular contracture (hardened scar tissue), change in nipple sensation, breast asymmetry, and breast implant rupture. In the case of many complications, breast implant removal or breast implant revision surgery can help correct the issue and restore comfort and the breasts’ appearance.

Other risks include breast implant illness and the very rare breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL). Choosing a trusted, board-certified plastic surgeon helps greatly to mitigate these risks.

Does breast augmentation cause scars?

Scarring is typical after any surgery. You will likely have some degree of scarring after your breast augmentation procedure, though the amount and location will depend on your surgical incision.

For example, those who receive the periareolar incision technique will have scars that blend with the edges of their areolas, whereas those who receive the inframammary incision will have a scar under each breast fold. Scarring should fade as time passes.

Can breast augmentation help with sagging breasts?

No. Breast lift surgery reshapes and elevates the breasts. It can be combined with breast implants for fuller, more youthful-looking breasts. During your consultation, Dr. Stevens will learn your goals for aesthetic surgery and design a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to your needs.

Can I combine breast augmentation with other procedures?

You may combine breast augmentation with other procedures if you desire further body enhancement. Some women, particularly after pregnancy and breastfeeding, will combine their breast augmentation with a breast lift to create more youthful breasts. Others will undergo a full mommy makeover and combine their breast augmentation with a breast lift, tummy tuck, and liposuction. Dr. Stevens can recommend appropriate procedures for you according to your desires.

Which is better: over-the-muscle or under-the-muscle implant placement?

There is no definitive answer to this question, as what is best for one patient may not be best for the next patient. Over-the-muscle implant placement may be better for those who desire a faster recovery, while under-the-muscle implant placement may be better for those who choose saline implants or who want to be certain that their results look as natural as possible. Dr. Stevens can discuss each option with you in detail and indicate his recommendations for you based on your needs.

What are the different incision types?

There are three traditional incision types used in breast augmentation. These are the periareolar incision (encircles the areolas), the inframammary incision (along the breast fold), and the transaxillary incision (through the underarm). Dr. Stevens will select the appropriate incision for you based on your implant type, implant size, anatomy, and personal preferences.

How often will I need to replace my breast implants?

Implants are designed to be long lasting. As long as your breast implants have not caused you any problems, you will not need to replace them. However, if your implants rupture, you experience capsular contracture, or you are unhappy with your breast implant size, you should have them replaced.

Will having breast implants affect my ability to breastfeed?

Your Beverly Hills breast implants should have no effect on your ability to breastfeed. However, if you are particularly concerned about this and you intend to undergo breast augmentation before becoming pregnant and breastfeeding, you may wish to avoid the periareolar incision. This incision type has a slightly increased risk of affecting the milk ducts and nerves to the nipples, which can affect breast milk production.

What will happen to my results if I choose to become pregnant after breast augmentation?

Pregnancy often leaves the breasts somewhat sagging and deflated. If you were to become pregnant after breast augmentation, the added weight and volume of breast implants in the breasts could contribute to or exaggerate these effects.

On the other hand, in some instances, the implant helps to fill out a breast that has deflated after pregnancy. Women who plan to become pregnant shortly after breast augmentation, especially if they intend to have multiple children, may wish to postpone their procedure so that they do not compromise their results.

When will I be able to see my final results?

The improvements in bust size, shape, and firmness will be noticeable soon after your breast augmentation surgery, but the breast implants will initially appear to rest high on the chest. The final aesthetic results will become apparent a few months after surgery when the breast implants have fully settled into position.
