Laser Resurfacing
- Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
- The Lasky Clinic, Beverly Hills
Laser resurfacing is a procedure that uses a laser to improve the appearance of your skin reducing facial wrinkles, fine lines, blemishes, acne, scars or sun damage.
The laser directs short, concentrated and pulsating beams of light at skin irregularities, removing skin layer, by layer in a precise manner.
Lasers can also stimulate collagen growth and tighten the skin making it a great option for improving the overall appearance of the skin.
The laser does have some limitations and is not recommended for stretch marks, patients that have very active acne or very dark skin. Speak with Dr. Stevens as this procedure may not be appropriate for you.
Am I A Good Candidate?
Dr. Stevens recommends laser resurfacing for patients who have fine lines or wrinkles around or under the eyes, forehead, mouth, scars from acne, or non-responsive skin after a face lift.

What to Expect After Treatment
After the procedure, it’s common to feel like you have a moderate sunburn. You may also experience swelling, redness, itching and stinging 12 to 72 hours after the procedure. Dr. Stevens will usually apply a thick ointment to the skin and cover the area with a dressing. You will be able to take over-the-counter pain medication and apply ice packs as the healing process begins. After your skin has become stable, you’ll need to apply sunblock lotion daily and refrain from applying makeup until 7 to 14 days after your procedure.
Other side effects may include crusting, swelling, redness or brown discoloration and in rare occasions, scarring.
